This is a really interesting alternative to grass, a cement slab covered with green track material (tartan). I spoke with one of the dog handlers, and she said it was a great surface because you can hose it off very quickly, it doesn’t get as hot as black asphalt, and it’s softer on the dog’s feet than bare cement.

A lovely lilly flower from my mother’s garden in Morris, Illinois. A nice respite from the stresses I’ve been feeling since I’ve been out here…At least the corn is still sweet, and the summers are hot and humid, and there’s plenty of propane in the tank for sweet, sweet grillin’.
Jazz at Pearl’s, San Francisco, California. Go Lincoln! I really enjoyed the Times 4 concert. I expanded my musical horizons in a very positive way…I’ve never been a huge fan of “smooth jazz” and I’d only heard it on WNUA 95.5 in Chicago. I found myself absolutely caught in the groove, punctuated by the dynamic range, musicianship, and sheer joy that they showed on their faces and stomping feet. I am very impressed, and will definitely watch *more* live jazz.
