The lime in the beer is just for gringos.  (I still like it though.)  You'll notice that Cornonas are bottled in clear glass, whereas most beer (particularly older brands) are in green or brown glass.  That's because the coloration in the glass prevents the light from spoiling the beer and giving it that skunky sort of taste.  Clear glass, however, is less expensive, and so Mexicans would give white tourists coronas and such with a lime in it to mask any skunky flavor.  

(Some cheap American brands such  as Miller, etc are in clear glass but they use fake flavoring that won't spoil-- and also makes for a tasteless beer.)</description>
