November 2002

I had an awesome day today, I woke up, talked to the Tizz, and went to class, even though I wasn’t supposed to have class today. BUT, it was really nice to have a smaller group. I went to Hard Knocks with Bijan, and had a BBQ Bacon cheese burger…very very good. Then went skating at the “new spot” as the locals call it, at Indiana and Army. I got up on the ledges there, and I was so stoked! It was all about aligning my shoulders properly to pop at the takeoff. Anywho, I cam home and have come to the realization that I can’t afford the Ti powerbook

So I spent much of the day looking for reasonably priced laptops, and I have found an HP one for about 1600…It seems to have a bunch of good things, the only porblem is I was hoping to have a 64mb video card and it doesn’t If I want that I need to spend about 1900…

So who knows, but I think it would help with work flow. I talked to mikey last night for a while and he’s settling down…Ethan is still looking for a formal date, Jill is doing well in the B-Low, and her mom had a week of to go to Disney. Tizz made it home safely, and Kev and I got to skate this spot on Golden gate where I did a little wall riding (granted it was a bit sloped) and ollied over a bar, and I”m trying to ollie and land off a ledge, but kept chickening out on the landing. I still need to finish this writing for the Javits thing, as well as catch up for Tony’s class…I have a lot of writing to do.

I’m so tired, been working on getting ready for Javits, as well as finishing schoo. I’m so excited about going back to CU to see friends, but I”m wondering abou my plants.

I have a lot to do before I leave…I can do it.

I REALLY HATE BANK OF AMERICA! Today I went to get 20 bucks out of the ATM and the atm gave me a receipt and my card, and deducted the funds, but no money!!! So I called the customer service number right on the macine, and they said that they couldn’t help me till tomorrow because they were closed, those SOBs ANYwho, needless to say I was pissed. I am getting that money back if it’s the last thing I do, they better credit me back for that.

In other news, I got two packages today, and a new Foreman grill, wheeeeeee…also a stock of leftover halloween candy from the mom. Went to lectures tonight, and not suprisingly they were better than the ones commissioned by the school. I had major problems with the umax scanner today, but it worked out, and I mailed the package to Tizz, so new shoes are on the way.

Still working on the two design projects, and I still am working for that new laptop.

Had an awesome day today, got a lot of things done, I have the negs developed, slides done, got footie for skate project, talked to the tizzbomb, emailed lots of professors, got a signiture for my TA form, went to class, watched death to Smoochy (an awesome flick) and also got two checks…one for the MP3 player rebate and the work for the HCI group…very nice indeed, thank you to Helena for all the work you put in to get that check for me.

I’ve been crazy busy with design projects, bills, and school…it’s almost like…real life. ‘Course in a year or two life is going to be very different when I’m chillin on the beach making artwork, and getting paid and getting debt free from school. Ahhhhhh yes, artrockstardom. It’s so real I can tast it. I figure when I sell my first work, all student loans evaporate.

I’m excited about the Javits fellowship this year, but I really need to get my slides together, and write that essay.

It’s been a while, and I’ve had so much going on, but suffice it to say, I’ve been skating at 2 parks on Monday, the weekend was filled with moving and getting furniture (new to me) and photographing a party, meeting with a client, and this Thursday I have a performance and Friday I have another meeting. I’m excited that things are finally coming in, after two pretty dry months, where I was doing a lot of contacting, and not much response. It feels really good.

I got the domain today, so that’s a step in the right direction for Obay. I am pretty excited about this culture jamming project, and it’s going to correlate well with the Javits application, as well as my essay writing. I feel activated now, and I am not sure why. Sticking it to the man may just do that to me. I also have a pretty strong support group. Thank you to all.

In other news, I still want to get a laptop, and that g4 is looking good, but I don’t know where I am going to get the money for it…doggie has been super unstable, even with the new power supply. But I want to keep doggie and make it run AND get a laptop. I have wonderful visions of typing my notes for two reasons, it’s easier to read, and I can save them to disk.

Still, 3g is 3g and that’s a lot of bank, especially when you’re still looking for a job.

Still no permanent job, but I keep thinking I would love to have that Ti G4 Laptop with the DVD burner……so what do I do…try to work with in my means and fix up the dog. I went from a 300w to a 500w power supply thinking that it was the last problem I could troubleshoot hardware wise, because I’ve already done everything else I can think of. Anywho I get home, install the new power plant and open every program I can. It runs great, then poof…doggie hangs. So much for that idea, but I did think it was under powered, and this new one has another fan, and is considerably quieter than the 300w, go figure. I had another blunder today too, my v200 geek phone stopped working, this is my third unit now, as the speaker phone continues to stop working for me. It’s so frustrating to hear but not be heard. Anyway, while I was at Verizon, I had to hand write over 200 numbers because they don’t have the software to take care of transferring it. SO what I thought would be a 5 min exchange was a 1.5 hour dialog. I had fun and it was Friday so no worries. I don’t know what I’m going to do if it happens again. I got Tizz some shoes today, ’cause she needs em.

So I made my first wide angle skate video today, talked with TZ for hours, had a student community meeting, got to go to an opening, read Rolling Stone and Thrasher, and yet I’m still up. I have a huge week coming, calls are finally coming in from the networking I’ve been doing so that’s positive. I may have a freelance photo gig soon. Hope so.

This weekend was a memorable one, not only did I meet to help decide the future of SFAI, but I went to Sonoma county and learned how whine is made. I documented it with 35mm film, as well as my own memory. I really like the way the country looks up that way. Such a different feel than to here. I got to see some leaves change, and had a fire for the first time in a long time.

So I went with the “surfer dude” costume, and the carnival atmosphere was awesome. The only problem is that I didn’t have a flash on my camera, but the scavenger hunt was excellent, and the costumes were fun, and well, I have a lot to do tomorrow, but I”m stoked that I went out and forgot about things for a few hours. It was really refreshing.
